San Diego recap + Friday Faves

Hiiiii! Happy Friday! How was the week? I’m thankful that it was a short one.. I’m ready for the weekend already. We blasted right back into school, dance, and got to see Nate Bargatze last night. SO hilarious and good.

This weekend will be spent cleaning up the San Diego aftermath, and I’m looking forward to a couple of low-key days. We also start our community detox on Monday! It’s not too late to join in. You can get your kit here (7,14, or 21 days use FITNESSISTA10) and join our closed Facebook group here. Quite a few of us are doing a longer detox, so there will still be friends participating whenever you get your kit.

San Diego recap + Friday Faves

San Diego was the BEST. We enjoyed four days in one of our very favorite places and also enjoyed some new adventures. We experienced LEGOLAND for the first time, took the girls paddle boarding and kayaking (twice because they loved it so much!) and we found out P is not a fan of Melting Pot lol.

We got in on Friday afternoon and decided to spend the afternoon shopping at UTC, and then enjoyed dinner at Seasons 52. We haven’t been to one in years – I keep wishing Tucson will get one! – and it lived up to the fond memories. Of course, the girls loved the mini desserts.

We called it an earlier night, and the next day, we woke up and it was raining. It rarely rains in San Diego, despite June Gloom and May Grey, and after being in the scorching Tucson heat, it was pretty lovely.

I caught a Lagree class

while the crew grabbed Better Buzz for all of us,

and then we headed out to paddleboard and kayak as the sun was coming out. P sat on the front of my board, and Liv used her own kayak! We were out on the ocean for an hour, and saw jellyfish, jumping fish, and two sting rays. It was wild!

(Swimsuit top and bottoms are here)

After paddleboarding, we went to Pacific Beach for the rest of the afternoon to swim and play in the waves. It’s funny because while we lived in San Diego, we avoided the beaches during holiday weekends because they were so busy. Now, we don’t care at all. We’re just happy to be there. 😉

Lunch was acai bowls in watermelons, salads, and coffee,

and dinner was at Melting Pot. We wandered around Gaslamp and since we didn’t have dinner reservations, Melting Pot seemed like it would be a fun novelty option. Liv ended up loving it, and P was NOT into it. She was like, “Why on earth do I have to cook my own food… this is a restaurant?”

This particular meal wasn’t my fave, either. The whole experience lasted way too long (and the kids were tired at the end of the day) and the food wasn’t as good as it has been in the past. We used to love it back in the day, but now, we’re not into poaching meat in a lukewarm pot lol. I would go back just for the dessert course, but everything else was meh.

Sunday, we grabbed breakfast on the road:

(the chocolate acai bowl from Nekter is LIFE)

and then spent the day at LEGOLAND.

P loves all things legos, so we wanted to take her before she was too old, because it’s definitely geared towards younger kids. We all ended up having a blast. The rides were super cute and fun, the food was surprisingly awesome, and we were all blown away by the incredible Lego sculptures and mini cities.

We did all of the major rides, enjoyed lunch, and walked around exploring. Dinner was Pizza Port in the hotel room, which was 10/10 as always.

Monday morning, we were out on the water again.

(Shorts, sports bra, and tank are here. Livi’s jumpsuit is here. Also, I get a kick out of the fact that P can wear lululemon now)

This time, P and the Pilot did a tandem kayak, Liv had her own, and I was on the SUP. It was the perfect way to cap off our trip before grabbing Great Maple to-go and hitting the road. We saw SO many dogs out on paddle boards while we were there, too. I need to take Maisey next time!!

It was definitely a trip for the books, even though it was a short one, we made the most of it. I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend, too!

It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party! This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your faves too, so please shout out something you’re loving in the comments section below.

Sakara meals.(You can use XOGINAH fo 20% off)  I’ve been enjoying Sakara for breakfast, lunch, and dinner this week and it’s been such a treat! It’s also been a great way for me to focus on nutrient-dense eats as we head into the detox.

TBH, I haven’t done the best job fueling myself for the past five months. The eye issues have added a layer of stress to my life that was first characterized by skipping meals – I was too stressed to eat – and then swinging in the complete opposite direction, and just eating brown, comforting foods, and sweets. My blood work results were a wakeup call that I need to take care of myself the same way I would take care of anyone in my family, or encourage those I love and coach to care about themselves.

Sakara meals have felt amazing, and I’m really looking forward to this little reset as I work to rebalance my body. After the 21-day EquiLife detox, I’ll be heading into the CBO protocol and some additional supplements + lifestyle changes.
